Starling Nutrition is a Brisbane-based dietetics practice operated by Phoebe Starling, Accredited Practising Dietitian and Accredited Nutritionist.

Depending on how you use the website, we may collect:

• your name, email address and the content of an enquiry;
• your email address, marketing consent and subscription status when you request the recipe book;
• personal and health information supplied in the meal-plan questionnaire, including age, gender, height, weight, goals, eating patterns, allergies, intolerances, dietary requirements and food preferences;
• order, invoice and payment-status information associated with a meal-plan purchase; and
• basic technical and security information such as IP address, device/browser information and security-check results.

Card details are entered on Stripe’s hosted payment page and are not received or stored by Starling Nutrition’s website.

We collect and use information where reasonably necessary to respond to enquiries, provide dietetic services, prepare and deliver a purchased meal plan, process payment and refunds, issue invoices, deliver the requested recipe book, manage an expressly consented marketing list, secure the website and meet legal, professional and record-keeping obligations.

Health information is sensitive information. Where required, we ask for your express consent before collecting it. We use it for the purpose for which it was provided and related purposes you would reasonably expect, or otherwise with your consent or where permitted or required by law.

Online bookings are provided through Cliniko. Information entered in the Cliniko booking interface is provided directly to Cliniko and handled under Cliniko’s privacy terms as well as Starling Nutrition’s clinical privacy obligations.

We use service providers to operate the website and deliver services: Cloudflare for hosting, security checks and encrypted temporary storage; Stripe for payments and invoices; Resend and our business email provider for transactional email; MailerLite for the consented mailing list; and Cliniko for bookings and practice administration. We disclose only the information reasonably required for each provider’s role.

These providers may process information in Australia, the United States, the European Economic Area and other locations where they or their subprocessors operate. Their locations and subprocessors can change. We use provider security settings, restricted access and other safeguards appropriate to the information involved.

An unpaid meal-plan questionnaire is encrypted in Cloudflare temporary storage for no more than 24 hours. After a confirmed payment, it is securely emailed to Starling Nutrition and removed from that temporary storage. If delivery temporarily fails, the encrypted copy may be retained for up to seven days solely to retry and reconcile delivery, and is removed after successful delivery. The resulting business and health record is retained only for as long as needed for service delivery and applicable legal, professional, accounting and dispute-resolution requirements.

Enquiries are kept as long as reasonably needed to respond and maintain appropriate business records. Mailing-list information is kept until you unsubscribe or it is no longer required. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

We use measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted transport, restricted accounts, server-side secrets, encryption of pending meal-plan questionnaires, short retention in temporary storage and payment processing hosted by Stripe. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure.

If an eligible data breach is likely to result in serious harm, Starling Nutrition will assess and respond to it in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

You can browse the public website without identifying yourself. Some services cannot practically be provided anonymously because we need to contact you, match payment and prepare an individual plan.

You may ask to access or correct personal information held about you. Contact us using the details above and provide enough information to identify the relevant record. We will respond within a reasonable period and explain any lawful reason that prevents access or correction.

Recipe-book signup includes express consent to occasional marketing. Every marketing email will identify Starling Nutrition and provide an unsubscribe method. You can also email us with “unsubscribe”; requests will be actioned within five working days.

Send a privacy complaint to [email protected] with a description of your concern. We will acknowledge it, investigate it and respond within a reasonable period.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Do not misuse the website, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with its operation or submit unlawful, misleading or harmful material.

We take reasonable care with this website but do not promise that it will always be available, error-free or suitable for every purpose. To the extent permitted by law, Starling Nutrition is not responsible for loss caused by relying on general website content or by services outside our control.

Nothing in these website terms excludes, restricts or modifies rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Australian Consumer Law. These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.

We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal obligations change. The current version and effective date will remain available on this page.
